- Supply of immersion cooling fluid to LG Uplus data center; stability and efficiency verification underway
- Installation of immersion cooling system at GS Caltex R&D Center for in-house testing
- Expansion into data centers and other industries with ongoing product validation

GS Caltex (CEO Saehong Hur) is making a full-scale push to grow its immersion cooling business by supplying the high-performance fluid to LG Uplus.
On June 26, GS Caltex announced that it has begun supplying immersion cooling fluid to the demonstration room at LG Uplus’s hyperscale data center, Pyeongchon 2 Center. The two companies have also launched a joint initiative to verify the stability and efficiency of AI server operations in an immersion cooling environment.
Immersion cooling is a technology that cools heat-generating electronic devices such as servers and batteries by submerging them in a non-conductive liquid. It is gaining traction as a promising next-generation cooling solution, offering higher energy efficiency and greater capacity to manage the high thermal output of AI servers compared to traditional air-cooling methods.
The GS Caltex immersion cooling fluid supplied to the LG Uplus data center is ‘Kixx Immersion Fluid S 30’, which delivers the operational stability required by modern high-density data centers while minimizing impact on human health and the environment. It is a high-flash-point fluid (above 250°C), primarily composed of poly-alpha olefin (PAO), a compound also used in coolants for fighter jet electronic systems, lubricants for pharmaceutical and food manufacturing facilities, and as an ingredient in cosmetics.
A GS Caltex representative stated, “Through this initiative, we are able to further enhance the efficiency and sustainability of data centers through immersion cooling solutions.” They added, “We will continue developing the technology and expanding the market to improve energy efficiency across the data center industry.”

Since launching Korea’s first immersion cooling fluid, ‘Kixx Immersion Fluid S’, in 2023, GS Caltex has formed a broad range of industry partnerships within the domestic and international data center ecosystem, including the current collaboration with LG Uplus, to validate its products and support market growth.
To date, GS Caltex has conducted multiple verification tests on the compatibility and stability of its immersion cooling fluid with relevant systems, working with Korean companies such as Databean, an immersion cooling solutions provider; SDT, a digital transformation and quantum standards technology company; and Samhwa Ace, a data center HVAC firm.
In 2024, GS Caltex supplied immersion cooling fluid to a Samsung SDS data center. In June 2025, it partnered with Supermicro, a global server manufacturer based in the United States, to establish an immersion cooling system at the GS Caltex R&D Center in Daejeon, where internal evaluations are also underway.
Additionally, in 2024, GS Caltex expanded its immersion cooling lineup into four categories, enabling the products’ application not only in data centers but also in electric vehicle batteries and energy storage systems (ESS). The company will continue to strengthen industry collaboration to supply immersion cooling fluids and validate their performance across a range of sectors.
